I brought the seedlings and saplings into the conservatory because the weather’s been ‘changeable’ and I wanted to give them the best possible chance of survival. It’s not a heated space, so it wasn’t coddling them, just stopping them being blown/washed away.
Apple powdery mildew struck, affecting almost all of them. Presumably, the sudden change in air quality/temperature triggered the spores, causing the bloom.
Anyway, they’re all back outside – written off in my mind but being given a fair chance still. If they survive, I may wild them somewhere in *dire* need of a tree.
